Nationally syndicated teen show Swept Away TV will begin its 6th season later this month and although the show now airs nationally, one aspect has not changed.

Show host Zac Rich and director Jeff Hendler still edit Swept Away Tv, a 30 minute pop culture show on their APPLE MAC G5 stationed in Zac's bedroom. Digital technology now readily available at a reasonable price, helps fuel this imaginative gang of teenagers.
Swept Away TV began as a local show founded by Rich's sisters Jaime and Amanda. When they went off to college and law school, they left the show in his hands. Jaime and Amanda set up a not for profit corporation that recruited at risk teens to gain career experiences in the media fields. When Zac took over, he recruited a cast and crew of 73, some traveling from Orlando, Naples, Key West and Daytona Beach for the twice a month shoots. The cast and crew range in age from 14 to 19 and represent just about any ethnic background you can think of.
Although the show is teen filmed and edited, don't be fooled into thinking that this is an amateur project. The show now is requested by channels asking to air the 22 episodes produced per year. The shows air on commercial television stations such as the Equity broadcasting channels, college stations such as the Columbia University channel in New York City, educational television stations, community television channels, and various youth channels such as the Youth Channel in Atlanta and the one in St Paul, Minnesota.
Season 6 already promises to be the most exciting season ever produced by the teens. Interviews slated to air during the upcoming months include Lava Record's artists OAR and Click 5, Capitol Records Reliant K, Warped Tour headlines MXPX and indie band No Use for a Name. Host Zac Rich explains, "We pride ourselves on discovering the new and emerging artists as well as revisiting our audience's favorites each season, and we are usually way ahead of mainstream radio and tv."
And way ahead of mainstream production companies as well! Swept Away TV is funded by parental donations, small grants and fundraising by the cast and crew.
Students nationwide who are interested in producing features for the show are urged to contact Rich or Hendler through the website at www.sweptawaytv.com. Their aim is to make the show available this season to everyone who wants to watch.
