In June of 2004, Canadian Peacekeeper Rob Sargeant was inspired to write Lost Ark Found – a children’s action adventure book – while taking three days U.N. leave in Galilee, Israel. He was walking along the shores of Lake Tiberius (Sea of Galilee) pausing to read portions of the New Testament, when he noticed for the first time how many parables (short stories) Jesus taught his followers with in that same region, two thousand years ago. “There were days in Galilee when all Jesus’ teaching was in parables,” Sargeant says, “I started to wonder, maybe there is a modern-day parable that needs to be told.” That’s what got him started on the writing of Lost Ark Found. “It was Jesus’ parable about the treasure hidden in a field.”
As the writing progressed in his spare time – usually on weeknights and early Saturday mornings - Sargeant would read completed chapters to his two preteen sons over long distance phone calls back to his home in Canada. This helped to entertain his sons, and eased some of the stress created by being separated from them for six-months while on tour.
Eight months after returning to Canada, Lost Ark Found was officially released, published by Baltimore, Maryland’s PublishAmerica.
