August 12, 2005 (Press Release) --
JAZZ VOCALISTS NATASHA MILLER & JAMIE DAVIS (formally of the Count Basie Orchestra) JOIN FORCES FOR A NIGHT OF SWINGIN’ JAZZ AT THE NOE VALLEY MINISTRY ON AUGUST 27.
Critically acclaimed bay area jazz vocalist Natasha Miller will share the stage with legendary baritone jazz vocalist Jamie Davis for a night of jazz and blues. Each artist will perform a separate set and will feature selections from their upcoming CD to be released in early 2006.
Mr. Davis will be performing selections from his current CD It’s All About Love as well as selections from his new recording that was produced at Citrus Studios in L.A. with Woody Woodruff engineer, and Shelley Berg conducting featuring members of the Count Basie Orchestra. Bruce Bellingham writes about a performance at Pearl’s, “Jamie knocked everybody out with his vocalizing”.
The musical selections for Ms. Miller's portion of the concert will be pulled from the songbook of Bobby Sharp ("Unchain My Heart," "I Had a Feelin'"). Most of the songs were penned by Sharp over 40 years ago and have never been performed or recorded before. Andy Gilbert writes about Natasha’s current CD, I Had a Feelin’, “...one of last year's most satisfying pop/jazz vocal albums".
The band for the evening is: Josh Nelson/Piano (Los Angeles), David Ewell/Bass, Tim Bulkley/Drums, Rob Roth/Sax.
