ASDA Rollback the Price of PCs in a New Deal with eSys

Stocked throughout ASDA�s 271 stores, the eSys PC will be available to consumers from 25 August, with a retail price of �279 including 17.5% VAT, considerably lower than its nearest competitor.

The eSys PC comes with 256MB of memory, CD-RW/DVD Drive, 2.4 Ghz processor and a 40GB hard disk drive.

Renowned for being committed to offering their customers permanently lower prices, ASDA was a good match for eSys. Being part of the Wal-Mart family since 1999, Ashish Kapahi, director of eSys PC Business Group believes that, �The deal with ASDA was driven by their desire to expand non-food growth within the business. Since 2002, ASDA have added considerably to their general merchandise lines delivering prices unheard of in the UK market, and the eSys PC is another example of this.�

The eSys PC is expected to be snapped up by both consumers and business alike. Especially with the increasing demand from UK businesses for PCs priced at sub �350 that carry a specification that meets Microsoft�s basic requirements for running Windows XP.

ASDA�s eSys PC is built with components from the worlds leading manufacturers and comes with an Intel Celeron D 2.4 Ghz processor, Sony CD-RW/DVD Drive and a Western Digital 40GB hard disk drive.

The PC is bundled with Microsoft�s Windows XP Home operating system, Microsoft Works and a free 3-month trial of anti-virus software from Bullguard.

Other programs that consumers might need can be downloaded through an online portal.

The purchase of an eSys PC entitles the buyer to one-month free installation telephone support, supplied directly by eSys�s customer service team, and a one-year on-site warranty from IBM Global Services.

Singapore-based eSys managed to secure their first foothold as a supplier to the US-based Wal-Mart group through an introduction coordinated by the International Enterprise Singapore group. An agency under the Ministry of Trade tasked to help Singapore-based companies grow and succeed internationally, played matchmaker to eSys and ASDA.
