ANCHORAGE, Alaska (August 24, 2005) - Award-winning Alaskan singer/songwriter Libby Roderick (http://www.libbyroderick.com) was featured on CNN this week. Roderick wrote the folk classic "How Could Anyone," a song that has struck a chord worldwide as an anthem of hope, empowerment and healing. See instructions below on accessing the online video clip.
Also featured in the CNN segment singing Roderick's song were AIDS orphans in Zambia; disabled youth in Oregon; women and girls redefining beauty in Maine; cancer survivors in South Carolina; and children at a Quaker school in Brooklyn, New York.
"In the first 24 hours, we received over 200 emails in response to the airing of the segment," said Roderick, an internationally acclaimed singer/songwriter, poet, activist, teacher and lifelong Alaskan. "I am deeply moved by the stories people around the world are sharing with me and how the song has touched so many people's lives."
The song "How Could Anyone" has been recorded by numerous artists, reprinted in books including "Hometown" by Pulitzer Prize winner Tracy Kidder and was sung by thousands at the U.N. Conference in Beijing in 1995. The song has also been used at hospitals, churches, Alzheimers care units, battered women's shelters, AIDS rallies, weddings, funerals and by countless groups and individuals around the world.
