LANCASTER, OH�Ohio-based publishers (and sisters) Janice M. Phelps and Joan E. Phelps, co-owners of Lucky Press, LLC (www.luckypress.com), will team up to discuss how authors can devise a game plan to take their manuscripts to the publishing marketplace at the Ohio Library Council�s annual meeting October 5-7 at the Columbus Convention Center.

The Phelps sisters will speak at 2:15 p.m., Thursday, October 6, on the topic of �Wham! Bam! Publishing: The Strategic Marketing Plan for Authors and Publishers,� which is the title of their most recent book.

�With nearly 200,000 new titles being published each year, authors and writers want to know how to compete, whether it is with trade sales or non-traditional markets,� according to Joan E. Phelps, Vice President of Lucky Press, LLC. �At the OLC conference, we will provide participants with a walk through the world of publishing�from editing and design, to marketing and reviews. We don�t sugar-coat the business, but share concrete action steps that will help authors market their manuscripts like successful businesses market new products.�

Phelps and Phelps have appeared recently before library organizations, book store events, community groups, and at the Thurber House. Janice M. Phelps founded Lucky Press in the late 1990s, after working in the publishing business for several years. She holds a BFA from Kent State University.

Joan E. Phelps was most recently a speechwriter and PR manager for Nationwide Insurance, from which she took early retirement to build the Lucky Press brand and successfully attract the attention of trade distributors. She holds a MBA from Ashland University and a BA in arts management from Capital University.
