September 1, 2005 (Press Release) --
Hong Kong : 1st September, 2005 :
Amir S. Johan (ASJ), Founder and Principal of La Salle Street Ventures today announced that its Service Specific Division, La Salle Street Events Management, is hosting a unique, first of its kind ever, two days, hands on, 1 2 1 Seminar and Workshop entitled “Raising Finance from the Arabian Gulf” in Hong Kong on 14th and 15th November 2005.
This workshop is being hosted in Hong Kong to educate and assist Hong Kong Entrepreneurs source financing from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries to develop and expand their businesses in both Hong Kong and China.
According to ASJ this event, was made possible through the kind help and assistance of the office of The Economic Adviser, Saudi Business Centre, Royal Consulate General of Saudi Arabia in Hong Kong.
The timing of the workshop coincides with the New Look East Policy being adopted by certain GCC countries. “This event is not about drinking stale coffee, dozing off while listening to boring speeches and finally going off with a bunch of outdated statistics” says ASJ.
“It’s really a 1 2 1 workshop where every attending delegate gets a scheduled and timed private discussion opportunity with each of the Financiers from the Gulf. It’s time intensive of course but it’s also the only way to establish direct business contact within a non social context. Networking during coffee breaks is overrated. It’s usually a waste of time and you never really get to talk business. Some egotistical loudmouth will usually dominate the VIPs with useless talk. The very people who have come to meet the ‘experts’ get sidelined. We want to make sure every delegate gets their moment with each Guest Financier” says ASJ.
“This event also sets another important first that may well affect how others price their events in the future. We are adopting an E-Bay style bidding process for delegate’s cost to attend and participate in the workshop. Although we can only register a limited number of delegates because of the time required for the 1 2 1 workshops, we are not seeking payment upfront and have not even set any fixed price for attendance. We have instead decided to allow each intending delegate to offer a price he or she is willing to pay. Delegates accepted for registration will only be billed for the amount they themselves have offered to pay” said ASJ.
