School-Age Notes, an Ohio-based publisher and vendor of resources for after-school professionals, will kick off its Inaugural Authors’ Tour on October 1, 2005 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Hyatt Rosemont, 6350 N. River Road, in Chicago, Illinois. This event, the first of several scheduled across the United States in the coming months, will feature four of the publisher’s well-known authors presenting a full-day training on “hot topics” in the school-age care field.
The training will include information on creating an environment that supports learning and play; designing activities and curriculum that enhance literacy, academic support and enrichment, and developing an atmosphere of positive discipline for children. The authors are known for giving fun and informative presentations. They will be available to meet attendees and sign books during lunch. Certificates of participation will be provided to attendees at the conclusion of the program.
The program will be moderated by School-Age Notes C.E.O. and widely acclaimed trainer Tracey C. Ballas. Presenters will include Sue Edwards and Kathleen Martinez, authors of Fun Literacy Activities for After-School Programs: Books and Beyond and Karen Haas-Foletta and Lori Ottolini-Geno, two of the authors of the newly revised School Age Ideas and Activities for After School Programs.
The full cost of the program, including a networking luncheon, snack breaks and workbook, is $125 per person through September 10, 2005. Registration after that date is $140, and registration at the door is $165. Early registration is recommended, as space is limited. Registrations at the door will be limited to available seating.
