“INDEPENDENT FILMMAKERS GET NOTICED BY JOHNNY DEPP”
After 11 months of hard work, over 10 thousand miles on the road and 100+ hours of video footage, Haylar Garcia, Darcy Grabowski and Scott Baxendale finally achieved their goal by delivering their one of a kind hand-made electric guitar to actor/musician Johnny Depp. These three Independent documentarians from Denver Colorado began their journey in October of 2004, the subject of their documentary: “Could 3 unknown filmmakers find a way to get their screenplay and its accompanying guitar to one of the largest actors on the planet?”
For project info see: www.doitforjohnny.com.
It seems the answer, after all this time, is yes. The filmmakers finally met up with Depp in Aspen Colorado, following the recent Hunter S.Thompson memorial event. Johnny Depp graciously accepted the guitar, telling them that he had been worshipping it from afar for quite some time. He told them that he knew how hard he was to find and that he appreciated their persistence. But, as with all things involving Hollywood, the three indie documentarians would fall prey to a few unexpected twists and turns.
