Quick 3D Cover is an extremely productive tool for developers, authors and designers who need promotional illustrations of software boxes (boxshots), CD, DVD or eBooks covers. The program instantly creates professionally looking 3d-illustrations, literally in some mouse clicks. You need no time to learn it, because it has very simple and obvious user interface, consisting of the single screen. Also your absolutely need no knowledge of 3d technology to use it. Quick 3D Cover in real time tracks any changes during your manipulations and automatically updates own preview window.
Working with Quick 3D Cover, you have to select sample from the built-in gallery, load pictures with your symbolic, select output image dimensions and save the result. First three steps can be done in arbitrary order.
The program supports Jpeg, Tiff, Png, Gif and Bmp for input and can save images into Jpeg, Png, Gif and Bmp.
Of course, it is possible to make good 3d pictures in professional 3d-software like Alias Maya or 3ds Max. Or use advanced techniques in 2d-software, such as Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator to make illustrations with professional 3d look. But all of the techniques are rather laborious. Even a small series of illustrations can take the whole day or even much more. Of course, on condition that you own necessary software and have sufficient skill.
By another way, there are some relatively simple 3d-software, based on OpenGL or DirectX rendering, which render simple 3d-objects like software boxes with much less efforts, than heavily weighted 3d or 2d software. But despite of relative simplicity, in any case, you must understand spatial light sources positioning, 3d camera manipulation, placement objects in space. And OpenGL or DirectX based rendering usually gives too simplified and coarse lightning and shading of 3d-objects. In this case boxshots and covers pictures often look planar and non-professional when published as web illustrations.
