September 19, 2005 (Press Release) --
Today 19September 2005. 3Business group announced the opening date of the fourth store for Offtobed, Location: Unit 3, 1042 Duke Street, Tel: 0141 554 9618, Behind The famous Forge Market in the east-end of Glasgow. Opening date is set for Friday the 23rd September 2005.
One of the directors of Offtobed, Ian Vaughan today said: “We had been working hard for a while to secure this site in the east end of Glasgow, the forge market last week took 38,000 people through it's doors and the 450 space car park at the entrance to Offtobed's new premises is often very hard to find a space to park, we believe that by bringing the Offtobed brand to the east end of Glasgow shows again how we are committed to bringing the right product at the right price to people who want it. The expansion plan is continuing for Offtobed; we will now have Glasgow covered with the opening of our third store, we have no plans to open anymore in Glasgow, we have it covered taking just enough of the Glasgow bed market, which will be good news to Bedshed that no more stores are opening there, we are targeting more bedshed locations and where independents are strong around Scotland this year to open, we have one small aim: to be the biggest and best, we will secure Scotland first as the number 1 choice for customers, we still have a good way to go”. Whilst continuing to stand on the toes and now heads of rival firm the Bedshed which information was leaked that some stores in the Glasgow area suffering a near 40% loss in business since the arrival of Offtobed this year and thats money not staff Funny side to this story is that on this day, Colin Montgomery ex-bedshed MD, who is to startup a rival chain of bed retailing with Mr Kelly ex-Benson's, as a leaving gift from Bedshed, like Bedshed is not suffering enough, Heather Coyle the buyer from Bedshed bought a flying lesson for Colin as a leaving gift, only to his amusement when he turned up to find out after his flight; that the flight was with a company called Flight Academy Scotland another 3Business group company. Mr Vaughan a pilot himself, continued to say “I wish it was himself who took Colin on that flight, it would have been a good chance to get to know Colin and possibly work out some deals while in the air, obviously to my advantage” as he laughed.
