“Changing Hands: A Murder Mystery” is about 6 friends who grew up together and their lives take separate turns. Lies, cheating, misconception, lust and envy, makes this mystery play all the more intriguing. When child hood friend and lead character, “Dave,” played by Akil Taffe, lies, cheat, and betrays everyone around him for money by any means necessary, he becomes the victim of this twisted murder mystery. It will take the close watch of the audience to determine the identity of the killer. The cast also features Courtney Neal as “Larry”, Luis Espinoza as “Jay-Jay”, Ioama Dremmem-Garrison as “Cassie”, Renita Thomas as “Lilly”, and Daphne Springs as “Barbara”.
C` City Productions’ owner Ella Darby, has been working with local talent for the past few years. C’ City Productions offers up and coming talent training, resources, information, as well as provides showcases for the hopefuls. Most of our talent would never have been given the opportunity to perform on stage in a professional production, due to lack of experience, looks or accents, had it not been for Ella Darby. Working with a diverse group is C` City Productions trade mark as well as philosophy, bringing all races together and working together to give everyone a chance at what sometimes seems impossible.
Working with fresh new actors can sometimes be challenging and wrought with pitfalls and stumbling blocks. But the style and vision that director Toni Monteiro weaves together, makes these first time actors appear to have been working in entertainment for years. Combine this veteran director with a well-written play by new -comer Mary Weeks and the audience will be at the edge of their seats! Mary not only shows her exceptional writing skills, but she is a testament to the fact that there are a many creative, undiscovered writers right here in our own backyard. So forget the notion that this is an amateur production because these actors had pull out their arsenals and will stop at nothing to give you a performance of pure professionalism. The amazing performances by these amateur actors will WOW YOU!
