Brad Carlile of United States Earns Fine Art Award In IPA Competition

(Free-Press-Release.com) September 28, 2005 -- Los Angeles, California., 9/28/2005 - Brad Carlile, an American fine-art
photographer based in Portland Oregon, was awarded Honorable Mention for
his series "Layer(s) Organic" at the International Photography Awards (IPA).
This series explores the impermanence of our perceptions.

Breathtaking in their totality and vibrant colors, this series explores
organic forms from many perspectives. One can look through one element
to see another beyond it that is the same, yet different. Below each

surface is another surface with complexity below, there are messages
beyond the message. In addition, the intersections of these juxtaposed
images create new forms and colors that embrace the abstract and the
ambiguous.

The images are built up from chromatically-distinct exposures from
different vantage points. All work is done 'in camera' on film with
no digital manipulation. The images start as a visual ragtime and
become more.

Another award winning series that Brad has created using the same
non-digitally manipulated technique is called "About Flow", which

explores the realities of impermanence using the subjects of clouds, water,
and people. In normal still photographs any change is rendered as a blur
and detail is lost. This series captures that detail and boldly emphasizes
it in biologically elemental colors. Stationary objects are captured in
their natural color (reality?) while active elements become vivid colors.

Brad has been using his innovative technique on several fine art series.
In the last 2 years, images from this body of work have been in 17 shows
worldwide. This summer alone, Brad has won three awards: the People's

Choice award at the Pacific Northwest Art Annual, the cover photograph
& award at Photographer's Forum's Best of Photography Annual, and
an award at the International Photography Awards (IPA).
