September 28, 2005 (Press Release) --
Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - Interest in NHL hockey has not dropped after the lockout. If anything, the hunger only grew over the course of last year. "I have never seen hockey tickets in all Canadian markets in such high demand in my 20 plus years in business," says Mario Livich, CEO and Founder of ShowTime Ticket Services. "The season hasn't even started yet and we are doing three times our normal volume and seeing record demand in all markets with price ranges from $20 entry level tickets to the most expensive luxury boxes. Hockey unites all Canadians and is imbedded in our culture more than anything I can think of. People are dying to see it back again and these hockey addicts will soon get their fix. Fan interest seems to be further fuelled by the NHL's recent rule changes which fans realize will create a more free flowing, higher scoring and faster paced game not to mention a more level playing field where all teams will be competitive." Livich's claims can certainly be backed up by box office ticket sales as the Toronto Maple Leafs, Calgary Flames and Vancouver Canucks have already sold out of tickets to all their home games.
Even without hockey last season, and the volatile nature of the ticket market, this Vancouver based company has seen revenue grow over 220% in recent years. And Livich only expects to get busier, "These are fun and exciting times here at ShowTime as we expect exponential growth very quickly with the return of NHL hockey and the recent launch of our Affiliate Partner programs. Our programs allow companies to partner with us to receive commissions or savings for their organizations on unlimited ticket access to all worldwide events. Our staff understand their jobs are to help people create priceless lifelong memories.”
While hockey was in a deep freeze, fans seemed to turn to music to fill the void. Livich adds, "Hockey tickets have always been our bread and butter but with the cancelled season last year our concert business grew by over 300% with the biggest draws being the "sold out" Rolling Stones concerts across Canada (Toronto- Sept. 26th, Calgary- Oct. 28th, Montreal- Jan. 10th). Stones tickets are a very unique and unpredictable market of their own. Right now, for next weeks show in Toronto, we can offer you the best VIP tickets within 20 feet of Mick and the boys for less than face value; whereas in Calgary you would need to pay 3-4 times face value to get into the building. In my opinion if you are Stones fan, and are in the Toronto area, now is the time to buy as the market has bottomed out. This is a very volatile marketplace with many fans sitting on the sidelines waiting to buy. Based on my experience, I believe that the market can and will turn very quickly with the pent up demand from those fans sitting on the sidelines..... just waiting to jump back in as the show approaches.”
ShowTime Ticket Services is Canada's #1 independent ticket agency. It was recently recognized as one of Canada's fastest growing companies by Profit magazine.
