Oceanside, CA--Sometimes great ideas start small and grow. A group of cooperating authors has come together to form an association, Authors’ Coalition.

Members are dedicated to the mutual support and development of each others’ writing careers through the sharing of resources, networking and cross-promotional efforts. They are also interested in advancing the interests of writing and the writing community in general. Through the spirit of shared work and activities, members may reap mutual benefit.
Through its website at http://authorscoaltionandredeneginepress.com, Authors’ Coalition displays advertisements for members and announces news and events. They offer ad space, promotional ideas, an online showcase for members, and a blog: http://redenginepress/chjohnson). The association has its own newsletter, and members plan to introduce themselves to Southern California at the LA Times Festival of Books in April of 2006, where they have secured two booths.
The Festival, intended to be the first of many projects, includes more than 30 authors and will showcase a unique approach for authors to utilize book fairs. Members’ books will be featured in a catalog, a chapbook and a promotional CD. The latter two will be passed out at the booth to fairgoers and the media. Through the sharing of mailing addresses of bookstores, libraries and other contacts, everyone’s exposure through the catalogs will increase.
Principals in the organization include Joyce Faulkner, editor of Red Engine Press, Carolyn Howard-Johnson, instructor for UCLA Extension's Writers' Program, and Kathe Gogolewski, founder of Tri-Studio.com, an authors’ company. The quickly growing support team includes Marilyn Peake, author of young adult fantasy, and Kristie Leigh Maguire, publisher of Star Publish and Carol White, publisher of RLI Press.
