October 6, 2005 (Press Release) --
For Immediate Release:
Denver, CO October 6, 2005 – Considered to be the founder of energism art, artist Julia Watkins will visit Houston Texas for the Bayou City Artfest October 8 and 9, 2005.
Also known as swirly art, energism paintings are unlike anything you've ever seen. One collector, who incidentally had an entire wing built at a midwest museum to house his donated collection, recently declared it a "new school" and "the most exciting thing to happen to art this decade."
Broad swrirly brushstrokes appear abstract until you look closely. Then you begin to see images of animals and people hidden within them.
Patrons line up to see if they can find the hidden images. And to see them, they must relax and use the left side of his/her brain. Entering this meditative state takes the patron from viewer to participant.
The message, "let go and become part of the flow" strikes home as the participant actually experiences the subject of the art.
The brainchild of artist Julia Watkins, this revolutionary emerging art style promises to change the contemporary art landscape ... leading to a new art school or movement. Already, artists are trying to copy this style, but with mixed results. Energism is very difficult to paint, the realm of only advanced impressionists.
This is something all art collectors should watch closely. The first of any art movement is always the most valuable.

Artist Julia Watkins has studied and shown her work in the US, Europe and Japan. She studied art at NC State School of Design and at the New York City Art Student's League. She has received numerous awards and is considered to be the founder of the energism art movement.
