October 12, 2005 (Press Release) --
With the passing of another successful summer, San Mateo, Calif.-based ServicesAgent.com is gearing up for Phase II of its business plan, including the development of online tools aimed at attracting more users to this service marketplace where consumers find “good help they can trust, quickly, simply and economically.”
The development of Phase II will commence this fall, with implementation as early as spring of 2006. These tools are designed to make posting, accessing and managing online information easier for both consumers and contractors.
The model for ServicesAgent.com caught on quickly when it was rolled out live by the company’s three partners – former Bay Area graduate students – back in 2002. The website has enjoyed its greatest success in attracting Northern California service pros, who are signing up by the droves because they find the convenience of real-time bidding on active jobs such as home repair, house cleaning, and other categories more desirable than the costly, “shot-in-the-dark” nature of direct advertising, telephone books, and billboards.
“In Phase II, we will offer customer-relationship, accounting, and procurement tools directly to the customers utilizing our servers,” said ServicesAgent partner Noel Rodriguez. “The benefit of investing in infrastructure was recently touched on by Bill Gates in a Microsoft article describing how Server Equals Service. With ServicesAgent.com, our customers will not have to worry about backing up their data or obtaining the latest accounting software. All the critical information will be stored on our secured servers, so there is no need to worry about viruses or data corruption. It will all run out of ServicesAgent, with application updates and enhancements delivered automatically to the users. This will reduce cost, protect data and improve application performance.”
The company’s three partners built www.servicesagent.com from the ground up, with no third-party financial backing, and they continue to drive their website to the forefront of this “niche” market.
“There are a surprising number of mergers and acquisitions taking place all across the Internet – most recently, eBay bought Skype and Yahoo bought Alibaba.com, so the old Internet companies are clearly positioning themselves for the next big thing,” said ServicesAgent partner Gerardo Galvan. “Google and Microsoft are focusing on making it easier to find all types of related information on the Internet in videos, blogs, audio files, pictures, etc. Meanwhile, eBay is focused on offering tools to its long list of sellers and community members.”
“This is one of our goals – to provide the backbone users require to make the most of our website, including new tools and features that make their collaboration with us more effective,” Rodriguez added.
“Positioning in the market is the key to success for any business,” noted the company’s third partner, Jim Otsuka, “and as more consumers realize how efficient our site is, we will be ready to meet future challenges by introducing new tools that strengthen our value proposition.”
