November 4, 2005 (Press Release) --
NEW YORK CITY, Nov. 3 - Women can now look smart and stylish too, as Red Coles introduces a womens line of soul-inspired shirts for spring 2006. The shirts are already hot-ticket items among mens fashion trendsetters. Seal, Dallas Austin, Kane West and Steve Nash of the Phoenix Suns are just a few Red Coles fans.
With a look that is urban but not hip-hop, Red Coles has been embraced by the downtown creatives. You know the type they always have the latest sneakers and coolest jeans.
Designed by artist Eric Coles in his Brooklyn, New York studio and produced by hand through a unique silk screening process, the Red Coles line offers witty and fresh perspectives on pop culture. The spirited new collection features cool artistic renderings of icons Johnny Cash and Isaac Hayes, as well as satirical commentary on The Red States and Oprah for President.
Coles, a former music executive launched his first mens collection in 2003 because he didnt see what he wanted to wear when he went into stores. I didnt want to buy a shirt with a designers name emblazoned across the chest. But I did want a shirt that said something, either figurative or literal. The resulting collections answer the demand for fresh products that speak directly to a generation of style conscious consumers.
That Red Coles voice is about to get a little louder. On December 1, 2005, MTV will premiere the World Aids Day 2005 T-shirt, designed by Red Coles. The shirt will retail exclusively at the MTV Store in Times Square, NY. 100% of the shirts profits will go to the Staying Alive Foundation, a global grant organization that encourages and enables young people around the world who are active in stopping the spread of HIV and AIDS.
The Red Coles line of limited edition shirts is available at specialty boutiques around the world, including Ron Herman in Los Angeles, Fred Segal in Santa Monica, The Studio Museum in Harlem and Beams in Tokyo. The collection will soon be available to purchase online at www.redcoles.com.
