November 16, 2005 (Press Release) -- Natalie Chew, of Generators Express (http://www.generatorsexpress.co.uk), believes that demand for generators will rocket as households and businesses in the UK ready themselves for what could be a winter of power cuts. There is increasing concern that Britain’s natural gas reserves will run dangerously low in the event of a cold winter. This would force the government to shut down gas-burning power stations in order to maintain uninterrupted gas supplies to households. Around 40% of the UK’s electricity is generated by gas power stations and shutting them down would lead to prolonged periods or power cuts across much of the country. Furthermore, several indicators suggest that this winter could be particularly severe.

Households and small businesses are turning to generators as emergency power backup solutions. “These days it is almost impossible to function without electricity”, Natalie says, “my gas-boiler is controlled by an electric console which means I cannot turn on the central heating or hot water if the electricity goes off!” In addition, fridges and freezers would defrost. Small businesses are also particularly vulnerable. “Computers are an integral part of how business is conducted today. Without electricity, many businesses would grind to a halt.” People are beginning to realise how vulnerable they are and they are buying generators as backup solutions. “It is possible to run any appliance of a generator so having one just in case is not a bad idea.”

In recent weeks there has been an increase in demand for generators which looks set to rise further as people continue to read scare stories in the newspapers. “The supply of generators is very limited so we would recommend getting your order in sooner rather than later” warns Natalie.

Natalie’s website, http://www.generatorsexpress.co.uk, provides useful information about generators for first time buyers. “There is an amazing amount of jargon which buyers have to contend with when they are looking at generators”, says Natalie, “we have tried to explain the most important points that must be considered before a generator is purchased.” Generators Express also allows you to view a large selection of generators in a format that makes their specifications very easy to compare. “We hope this will enable customers to find the products that best suits their needs.”
