Australian KISS fans announce they will join the American and Canadian protest rally on August 5, 2006 by hosting their own march in Melbourne
For_Immediate_Release:

November 30, 2005 (Press Release) -- The same week the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced its newest inductees, fans of the heavy metal group KISS responded in numbers. “We already knew KISS wasn’t on the ballot, but now it’s time to put a global spotlight on the omission,” says George Xirocostas, spokesman for the Australian KISS Army. “The U.S. and Canadian fans are organizing a protest rally at the Hall of Fame Museum in Cleveland, Ohio on August 5, 2006 and the Aussies have decided to host their own rally the same day in Melbourne.”

Planners for the American march couldn’t be happier. “We were thrilled when we heard about the plans in Australia,” says Paul Carpenter, chair of the American rally. “KISS has had a widespread influence on rock and roll, and Australian fans are some of the most passionate people in the world. Their plan is a perfect complement to the Cleveland march.”

Plans for the American rally include the posting of flags from all over the world, sent in by fans unable to attend the U.S. march in person. “We’ve received email from all over the world expressing support,” explains Joe Apple, the co-chair of the Cleveland event. “It’s only a matter of time before the Hall of Fame realizes that when KISS introduce themselves as ‘the hottest band in the world,’ they have the credentials to prove it.”

The 2006 inductees into the Hall of Fame are Black Sabbath, the Sex Pistols, Miles Davis, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Blondie.
