November 30, 2005 (Press Release) --
While many watched in disbelief as the tragic stories were aired on television and printed in the news, a local Annapolis, MD couple worked tirelessly to locate a dear friend. They successfully tracked her down to a hurricane shelter for nursing home residents in northern Louisiana, immediately flew down to retrieve her, and brought her to their home in the Eastport neighborhood of Annapolis to complete her recovery. Opening their home and hearts to her has contributed significantly to her recovery.
Recently, this caring couple considered cancelling a long scheduled (and much deserved) vacation because they were concerned with leaving their friend at home alone for a week. They called Independence Home Care to arrange in-home care and were pleasantly surprised to learn that Independence Home Care provides both short-term and long term care. Almost overnight, care was scheduled and the vacation plans went untouched. To put their minds further at ease, Independence Home Care arranged for them to meet the caregiver who would care for their friend and they were able to enjoy a worry-free vacation.
“Our job is always rewarding, but in this particular case, it was especially so,” said Fred Alvarado, Director of Operations for Independence Home Care. “We were able to help both the client and [the client’s] friends by providing both reassurance and quality care in a pinch.”
Independence Home Care provides non-medical companion and homemaker services for seniors, those recovering from surgery, new and expectant mothers, and the disabled throughout Maryland. Independence Home Care provides exceptional live-in, respite and hourly care, as well specialty care for individuals with Alzheimer's, Dementia, Hearing Loss and Aphasia.
