November 30, 2005 (Press Release) --
“I can’t believe I ate all that food!” Many folks are making this statement after holiday meals. They are not alone. People can find their willpower nonexistent during the holidays. Most people do not eat the ‘holiday foods’ at any other time of the year.
What can they do to avoid overeating during the holidays? Eat raw fruits and vegetables first. Enjoy a salad or a bowl of fruit or graze the relish tray before the main course. Many will find this very satisfying. Filling the void in a tummy with raw fruits and veggies is the key to reduce hunger and minimize the risk of overeating. As a bonus, raw foods are lower in calories and high in fiber, enzymes and/or macronutrients. By satisfying the emptiness before the main course, many people will eat slower and eat smaller portions resulting in lower caloric intake and a healthier you.
