December 3, 2005 (Press Release) --
Wayne McCullough surprised 1st and 4th graders at Odell Elementary School in Concord, North Carolina, last Friday afternoon. While visiting friends in the East Coast state, Wayne decided to visit the school their daughter attended.
He brought along his WBC bantamweight belt that he won in Japan in 1995. He also brought his 1992 Olympic Silver medal and his 1990 Commonwealth Games Gold medal.
The children were delighted with the visit and asked him all sorts of questions. "I've never been asked that before" when one of the girls asked how many bones he has broken but he was able to give her a very lengthy answer.
After spending about 30 minutes in the classroom, he signed photos and a copy of his newly released autobiography for the school.
"It's a beautiful city and very welcoming" he said of Concord and its surrounding areas. It might be a place I'd consider moving to.
Wayne is spending the rest of the weekend in North Carolina before returning to spend Christmas at his home in Las Vegas.
