Westminster, CO December 3, 2005 – A college instructor introduced business woman and entrepreneur Mia Simone to the world of jewelry making and since that day jewelry design has captured the heart, hands and mind of this young woman who came from a disadvantaged home. She had a mind and will to pursue a college degree and make a positive impact on society in her own unique way. This highly creative young woman put herself through college graduating magna cum laude from Bethune-Cookman College. She accepted a job at IBM after graduating and worked her way quickly up the corporate ladder and left IBM to pursue her international Internet boutique full time. Being in a position to give scholarships to college students that come from a low income and disadvantaged homes is something Mia Simone envisioned doing as a college student. A percentage of the profits made from jewelry sales go toward the Mia Simone’s Boutique Book Scholarship. Designer Mia Simone has over 10 years of jewelry design experience and specializes in making gemstone and rare exotic beaded jewelry for the hair and body. She began designing and making jewelry in her senior year at Bethune-Cookman College in Daytona Beach, Florida. She is an independent jewelry designer who is self taught and has learned her craft completely through hands on experience. Her jewelry collection is called “Ethnic Elegance” because of its ethnic yet elegant style that contains a plethora of gemstones and exotic beads from Africa, India, Asia and Europe.
Warm vivid colors mixed with various rich textures of round, rectangle, faceted cut gemstones with rare exotic beads of various sizes and shapes are skillfully strung into necklaces and bracelets. Other jewelry pieces are made into earrings and the much talked about hair jewelry. It all starts with ideas that are obtained from the many beads and gems Mia Simone buys.
