Registry Mechanic 4.0 or earlier backups and Registry Mechanic 5.0 backups are not compatible.

December 3, 2005 (Press Release) -- How to upgrade Registry Mechanic?

Registry Mechanic 4.0 or earlier backups and Registry Mechanic 5.0 backups are not compatible. If you would like to keep the old backups please copy the contents of the 'C:\Program Files\Registry Mechanic\backup' to a different folder.

Registry Mechanic Version 5 uses an enhanced scanning algorithm, so it may detect & repair problems in your registry file that were not previously detected by Registry Mechanic Version 4 or earlier.

Upgrade to Version 5.0:
- Make sure Registry Mechanic is closed
- Download Registry Mechanic
- Save the file, rminstall.exe, to your Desktop
- Navigate to your Desktop. Find the 'rminstall' icon and double click it to launch the Registry Mechanic installer

Please Note:
- The upgrade is part of your subscription.
- There is no need to uninstall your previous version of Registry Mechanic before upgrading.
- There is no need to re-enter your license details from your previous licensed version of Registry Mechanic.
