55 Years of Sweet Success
Chicago, IL
In 1950, Kay ("Katie") Giglio, an empowered, independent woman created her own line of signature chocolates. Now she is celebrating 55 years of sweet success. Katie indulged in her passion for fine chocolates by training with professional chocolatiers Antoinette and François Pope, and then developed her own unique style.
In four decades, Katie had three different retail store locations. The last store in Norridge, IL (northwest of Chicago) was open through the mid-1990s. When her husband retired, she did not even consider full retirement. Today she has an operations center in Rosemont, Illinois, where the fresh, delectable candy is created, packaged and shipped. The company is a cottage business selling to a growing client base. Some of her clients give out the boxes of delicious candy as holiday gifts.
In 2005, Katie still works a few days each week, helped by her children "during chocolate season" to create her fresh chocolates. She has an exclusive Internet arrangement with LinorStore.com to bring her signature style, handmade chocolates to chocolate lovers everywhere.
Katie’s business was once featured on a “Someone You Should Know " segment in Chicago on ABC”. She said she would "like to make chocolate all day”, if she could. She is a warm, passionate, successful woman who has helped to make Chicago the chocolate capital that it is.
