December 7, 2005 (Press Release) -- 12/07/05 - Desiree Whalen (http://www.desireewhalen.com), a local Wilmington NC real estate agent, has made a donation to The Salvation Army (http://www.salvationarmyusa.org) to help serve meals to the less fortunate in the Wilmington area this holiday season.

"There are many in our community that need a little extra help just to feed their families, especially around the holidays," said Desiree. "Trying to provide that help is something that's always been very important to me."

The donation, which amounted to 10 turkeys, helped to feed approximately 100 people over the Thanksgiving holiday.

"It's important to give back to the community that has given so much to you," continued Desiree. "Sometimes we forget that we need to help others if we expect to continue to have good fortune ourselves. Whether it's through making a donation, serving meals, or simply volunteering time, I believe that every little thing helps to make a positive impact, and I encourage others to do the same."

As an agent for Network Real Estate (http://www.networkwilmington.com), Desiree is part of an experienced team that has proudly served the Wilmington area since 1982.

The Salvation Army, an evangelical part of the universal Christian church, has been supporting those in need in His name without discrimination since 1865. Nearly 34 million Americans receive assistance from The Salvation Army each year through the broadest array of social services that range from providing food for the hungry, relief for disaster victims, assistance for the disabled, outreach to the elderly and ill, clothing and shelter to the homeless and opportunities for underprivileged children.
