Print-On-Demand: Good or Bad

One of these huge improvements is Print-On-Demand (POD) which simply means that, once a book is ordered, it is then printed and shipped out. POD is a digital printing technology that allows a complete book to be printed and bound in a matter of minutes. This makes it easy, as well as cost-effective, to produce books one or two at a time, or in small lots, rather than in larger print runs numbering in the hundreds or several thousand. Not only does POD save thousands of dollars in over-stocked inventory but it also provides more titles, more retail avenues, and more chances for first-time authors to get that proverbial foot in the door. One such author is JP McDonald.

JP McDonald has published his first novel, "Marcella: Princess or Pawn," using the POD system and states that it is the only way to go:
