ANACS (www.anacs.com) has gone through some changes in 2005. One of the major changes is new President, James Taylor. Collectors are very curious about the changes coming to ANACS. James will be coming to Coin Community Forum (www.coincommunity.com/forum/) to answer questions about the company and the forthcoming new changes. The event will be held on Wednesday night, January 11, at 9:00 PM eastern standard time. If you would like to pose a question to James, please register for the forum early. Registration is free.

James has a stellar numismatic career: Most recently, he was President and founding partner of ICG. He was responsible for the change in the ICG slabs to the Intercept design, in addition to contributing to increased respectability of the ICG grading service in the numismatic community. James left ICG to be President of ANACS in July of 2005.

James became President and Chief Operating Officer of ANACS on July 25, 2005. Other highlights of his illustrious career include holding the position of Director of Education at the American Numismatic Association (ANA) where he helped expand the association’s Summer Seminar; producing and directing Money Talks, a daily radio program on the history and lore of money which was nominated for several Peabody Awards; and producing and directing Money: History In Your Hands starring James Earl Jones. He also helped create a number of numismatic correspondence courses, and more. With credentials like these, his acceptance of the Presidency of ANACS could be very promising for the advancement of this already-respected third-party grading company.

The concept of certified coins came about in the 1970's. At that time, the American Numismatic Association (ANA) started ANACS (American Numismatic Association Certification Service), making ANACS the oldest grading service, and it is still going strong. Until 1989, ANACS authenticated coins only, moving into grading and slabbing in 1989.

In 1990, ANACS was purchased by Amos Press who then sold the company to Anderson Press (the parent company of Whitman Publishing) in 2005. Shortly after the acquisition, James Taylor (then President of ICG) was offered the position of President within the organization, which he accepted, leading ANACS into a brand new age.

The changes have already started. Grading time guarantees are now in place. Innovative new holders are being introduced. Changes in the net grading system (that ANACS was famous for) are being revamped. There are many, many more improvements besides these. Could James take ANACS to the top? We think so.

James Taylor's debut on Coin Community will provide the opportunity to get some questions answered about the current and future changes being proposed. This is a great way to find out directly from the man responsible rather than rely on rumors. He has shown himself to be very willing to respond to questions and concerns from the collecting community, in addition to listening to the input provided to him.

You must be a registered member to post any questions or comments during James Taylor's visit. It is recommended that people interested in participating in this event register early. People who are not registered will still be able to view all questions and answers, so be sure to visit Coin Community on January 11 at 9 PM Eastern Standard Time to learn more about the changes at ANACS.
