One dead, six hurt in India's Bangalore shoot-out
At least one person was killed and six injured when a gunman opened fire at the Indian Institute of Science in South India's Bangalore on Wednesday.
According to New Delhi Television, the deceased, M. C. Puri, was a professor from the Indian Institute of Technology.
Scientists were on their way to Tata Auditorium at the institute for an international seminar when firing started, it was reported.
Intelligence sources suspect it could be a terrorist attack. The government is trying to ascertain if terrorists carried out the attack. The police have cordoned the area.
Meanwhile, the Home Ministry has sounded an alert in Bangalore. The prime minister has expressed shock over the incident.
