December 29, 2005 (Press Release) --
Thu / 29 Dec 2005 - Uh, hello? Folks? It's Thursday, Dec. 29, which means New Year's Eve is exactly two days away. Know what that also means? Just like when you knew you were getting laid off but decided not to use employer's copy machine for resumes, procrastination got the best of you — and you've left planning how you'll ring in another year of firings, magazine foldings and Jennifer Aniston sex partners to the last minute.
If you've ever needed a reason to rationalize how much time you spend reading Jossip, then this is it: our comprehensive guide to New Year's Eve in New York. Since we only give vacation time to staffers, we thought it'd be wise to string Intern Molly along to put this list together under the guise of service journalism. Sadly (and only because our mood stimulants haven't kicked in), it worked.
From Cain to AER, Marquee to Crobar, and Home to Guest House (well, that last journey only requires a couple steps), we've got you covered. And if the Meatpacking District just isn't going to be your thing in 2006, we've also got some choice LES options — as well as a few celeb mingling fetes.
So break out your Centurion card (the "BlAmEx," as it's affectionately called), hire some needless body guards like you're Annie Lennox and plan on a bar-lounge-club hopping extravaganza of an evening. Just remember: a night with Jersey girl may incur an additional cost.
All the details, after the jump.
• 40/40: $150 general admission. $300-$2500 VIP table, depending on table size. Open bar until midnight (when Jay-Z, Beyonce and their entourages roll in), party favors, and a champagne toast.
• Marquee: $175 general admission. $300 VIP table. Open bar from 9-2, hors d’oeuvres, champagne ticket. Marquee is also throwing in an after party ticket. We wonder if the after party's at Gaslight?
• Pacha: $75 general admission, $150 open bar package, $1000-$3200 VIP tables. DJ Carl Cox spins, champagne toast.
• Cain: $175 general admission. $300 VIP table. Open bar from 9-2, hors d’oeuvres, champagne ticket. Tickets for the after party (at Capitale) included.
• AER: $150 general admission. $300 VIP table. Open Bar from 9-2, hors d’oeuvres, champagne ticket. The ball drop is also included, but we don't really know what that means. Ticket for the after party (at Happy Valley) included.
• Home and Guest House: $175 general admission. $225 Super VIP (oooh). $275 table at either club with one bottle included. Open Bar 10-4, hors d’oeuvres, coat check, party favors and a "Live Count" at midnight (we don't know what that means, either).
• Crobar: $150 general admission. $150-$1600 VIP table. $60 after midnight, $50 After 8am. Seriously, though, by 8 am, it's time to go home, Jersey girl or not. Open bar from 8:30-1, hors d’oeuvres, champagne ticket.
• Hotel Gansevoort: $225 gen admission. $865-$1195 VIP room with party admission. Rooftop party. Champagne toast.
