Anti-drug artist/muralist Leann Simpson opens a show at The Coffee Haven, 1708 East Broadway, Long Beach, California 90802, on Friday, January 20th, 2006, through February 20th. The show promises to dazzle the eye with art treasures full of determined creativity and hip innovative styling. Working in acrylics, oils, and pastels on a variety of surfaces, Ms. Simpson takes the viewer on a swirling, eddying, volcanic trip through her wailing need for self-_expression. Pieces with titles like TOGETHER AS ONE, TIME TO LET GO, GRAND ROMANCE, MUSIC OF WAVES ON THE PIER, and EGYPTIAN BELMONT, contain the artist’s meaningful gifts.
Leann Simpson is also well known as one of the leading muralists in the county. Her twenty by ten foot masterpiece, DIAMOND HABITAT, graces Long Beach High School’s Science Building. THE ADVENTURE, her latest mural, commissioned by the city of Long Beach, is at 6th Street and Linden Avenue.
Ms. Simpson just completed a commissioned work for The Center for the Arts, Eagle Rock, and is about to embark on a much anticipated thirteen piece anti-drug series, inspired by her own former life in the fast lane. She promises to develop a whole new style for the series, one that will make the bold and tender feelings associated with the subject burst with life.
