Aphton Corporation CEO and President Patrick T. Mooney has resigned from the position effective Jan. 25, 2006. the biopharmaceutical company announced Thursday.

The executive vice president and CFO , James Smith , plans to take the role of interim CEO and President until a replacement is found. Mr. Mooney will stay on in an advisory role until the end of the month.
