BOISE, Idaho – MicroWorks, Inc., the parent company of 4inmates.com, today announced “The Deal,” a free offer to provide all of the equipment needed for an electronic mail processing system for detention facilities with more than 500 beds.
“The Deal” provides all of the equipment a facility needs to enable family and friends of inmates to communicate with them via e-mail using the 4inmates.com Internet portal, including: high-speed PC with flat panel monitor, high volume laser printer, high-speed scanner, consumables (paper, toner), customized mail rejection form, staff training, and Fast Draw Mail software.
“With 4inmates.com, we make it easier and faster for friends and family to correspond with inmates,” said Joel Gyllenskog, President of MicroWorks. “At the same time, we also provide a huge benefit for an institution because we help optimize its mailroom and turn it into a revenue-generating operation.”
Revenue
According to Gyllenskog, once the electronic mail processing system is installed and running in an institution, the facility can begin generating revenue for itself through a revenue-sharing agreement with MicroWorks. The company pays 10 cents for each letter sent to an institution and 20 cents for each outgoing letter scanned.
Gyllenskog says that if an institution receives 20,000 pieces of mail per month via 4inmates.com, and inmates use the system in the facility to scan and send 5,000 letters, the facility will receive a payment of $3,000 per month for processing that electronic incoming and outgoing mail.
Security
Using 4inmates.com optimizes mailroom functions and substantially reduces the amount of time it takes for a letter to reach an inmate because the electronic mail processing system at the facility eliminates the need for facility staff to X-ray incoming mail, open and inspect mail, decipher handwritten mail, find watch words, or detect gang symbols. In addition, for added security, the system can transliterate multiple languages to English—Spanish, Russian, Italian, German, French, Arabic, Urdu (Pakistani), Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.
