February 1, 2006 (Press Release) --
Art for Critters ( artforcritters.com ) officially opened it’s web site last month as a meeting place for 501(c)(3) animal charities and professional artists willing to help. Using the acronym A4C the public can find the artwork for sale on both ArtbyUs.com, a popular art venue supporting Art for Critters, and on Ebay. There are also links directly to the artwork for sale on the Art for Critters website.
The web site began as a conversation last year between award-winning artists Stella Violano and Michael Fräse, both of whom regularly support animal charities through their art sales. In the dialogue both knew other artists who wished to help support animal causes but did not have the connections needed to do so. It was soon apparent to both that there was a need to create a union of artists and charities to benefit animals.
The idea inspired Violano to build the website artforcritters.com which was launched quietly last month with 6 artists and three charities signed on. Within days the site grew to 18 approved charities and 53 professional artists- many of whom are listed and nationally known- and eager to help make a difference to animals in need.
“We now have artists and Charities from around the world” Violano said “It is inspiring to see the enthusiasm of both the artists and the charities!”
Because many of the new artists sell in galleries and are not familiar with online sales Art for Critters has established a buddy program coupling experienced on- line artists with those who are new to the internet. This has allowed an amazing variety of original artwork to be offered as well as limited reproductions all with a percentage of sales going to help various animal charities in need. The 501(c)(3)charities range from Wildlife Sanctuaries and private rescues to Animal shelters providing veterinary care to homeless pets.
Charities and Artists both undergo a jury process to be accepted into the site, the jury process is done once a month. More information on how to join or contribute is available on the web site.
Artwork for sale can be found on the Art for Critters website as well as on Artbyus.com and Ebay. All titles of charity work will have the acronym “A4C” in the title to allow for an easy search to find the works of Art offered to help the animals.
