Oprah Winfrey's influence has gotten out of hand
Oprah Winfrey has too much power! I say this in reference to the Jan. 21 article, ''Outraged Oprah lays into lying author,'' referring to ''A Million Little Pieces'' by James Frey. If Oprah has issues with the book and felt duped, that is her business. Who's to say Oprah is right?
Oprah once had a show on how women are not wearing the right size bra. I work in a lingerie department and was inundated with women who wanted to be measured. Every woman I measured referred to the segment on the ''Oprah'' show. I thought to myself, ''Can't these women think for themselves?'' We have always advertised that eight out of 10 women are wearing the wrong bra. However, not until Oprah mentioned it on national TV did women actually think about it.
Every woman should have her own opinions and thoughts on matters. She should not rely on others to dictate how she should feel. Oprah may be popular, but she is not the end-all of information or advice.
