February 9, 2006 (Press Release) --
PETALUMA, CALIFORNIA - 'A Fair to Remember' Saturday, March 4th at the Petaluma Fairgrounds. An international fair of foods from Hog Island Oysters, Slanted Door, Cowgirl Creamery, Czar Nicholas Caviar, Tartine Bakery and others will be served up by Chef du Cuisine for the night, Stacy Lauer. Ed Hogan of Friends of Live Oak and General Manager at Pahlmeyer Winery will oversee the wine collections. A Silent and Live Auction will be the focus of the evening with Jim Fiolek from the firm of Reynolds & Buckley, presiding as Auctioneer. Music, entertainment, all of this and more to benefit Live Oak Charter School, a Waldorf-methods public school in Petaluma.
Now in its fifth year, Live Oak Charter School (LOCS) was founded by a group of dedicated families in 2000, at a smaller site than their current location on the fairgrounds. Jodi Boyle,
Chair of LOCS Board of Directors, described it as "growing from what was a dream to managing an institution in the community that is a distinct choice for public education in Petaluma. It is something we can all take pride in and celebrate and this is our big party. Then there is the reality that we are raising funds to keep programs going all year round. This is our biggest fundraising event of the year."
"I feel like an Ambassador of Live Oak when I go around town requesting donations, people recognize the name and have been so generous. They seem to appreciate the quality of the education we are providing and are curious about it. So far we have vacations to Hawaii, Mexico and Lake Tahoe, fine jewelry, original artwork, antiques and gift certificates from all over Sonoma, Marin and San Francisco counties." Said Sabrina Kahn, a Founding Family member and an active parent in the community.
An elegant array of food and drink in keeping with the theme "A Fair To Remember" will be served including popcorn with truffle oil and porcini powder, freshly made cinnamon churros, caviar, oysters, artisan pastries, Italian sodas, wine, champagne and more.
"The Hot Frittatas' international café music brings you back in time or to a care free place, which is exactly what we are hoping to do for our friends who come to this event," said Amy Hogan, Auction Committee Chair. For tickets and general information call 707-364-0365.
