February 19, 2006 (Press Release) --
13th Annual Lincoln Award Dinner
The Dundee Township Republican Central Committee, Inc. is hosting its 13th Annual Lincoln Award Dinner on Sunday, February 26, 2006 at the Milk Pail Restaurant on Rt. 25 in East Dundee, Illinois. The program will feature Republican gubernatorial candidate Jim Oberweis as the Keynote Speaker, along with several other notable candidates for the Governor and Lt. Governor and other races. A social hour will begin at 5:30 pm, and the dinner at 6:30 pm.
This year's Lincoln Award recipient will be 16th Judicial Circuit Judge James T. Doyle, who served as Presiding Judge of the Kane County Drug Rehabilitation Court, the largest in Illinois and recognized as a national model. Citing what he called "an epidemic of heroin," Doyle has fought the insidious attack being perpetrated by drug dealers with ties to Third World countries who target our children.
Judge Doyle believes helping felons overcome their addictions through close monitoring, treatment and counseling is less costly than the $22,000-a-year cost of housing an adult in a state prison. However, some felons, aided by unscrupulous attorneys and mental heath "experts," resent any such firm accountability, and have threatened the program by filing frivolous complaints that are undermining the process.
The DTRCC, Inc. applauds the caring efforts of Judge James T. Doyle, and proudly honors him as the recipient of the 2006 Lincoln Award. For more information, contact Lee Barrett, DTRCC, Inc. Chairman at (847) 742-0560 or Margaret Scalfaro, Vice Chairman at (847) 428-1875.
