February 23, 2006 (Press Release) --
LOS ANGELES, Feb 20, 2006 – Tenantplus founder Harlan Plasier was pleased to award a $1,000 scholarship to local USC student Gregory Damiano for his outstanding marketing efforts.
TenantPlus, a leader in online rent payment and apartment search services, employs college students in its “University Housing” program. Since April 2005, interns developed a number of web sites targeting their peers, learning valuable skills in the process. Damiano is the first intern Tenantplus has recognized for his contribution to the company.
The University Housing site features apartment listings, roommate services and a number of “community portals,” each catering to a different university in the United States. Damiano created one of the first portal sites, www.USCtenants.com , intending for it to be a student reference for housing vacancies, local businesses and Los Angeles attractions. The other portal sites boast information about Berkeley, San Bernardino and other schools around the country, with interns on both coasts working together.
Damiano, 21, studies print journalism and interactive media at the University of Southern California. He is one of ten paid interns at Tenantplus, whose talents range from application development to marketing communication. Damiano was awarded the scholarship for his dedication in delivering the best combination of services to users.
“My Tenantplus internship has been a wonderful experience,” said Damiano. “I have the freedom to both contribute ideas directly into production, while learning the skills I need to do the job.”
“College students already use the Internet for research and entertainment, so it should be no surprise that they would use it to pay their rents and find new apartments. They are a significant part of the rental apartment market,” said Tenantplus founder Harlan Plasier.
Based in Los Angeles, Tenantplus launched its main web site in 2000. It is rapidly becoming a leader in Internet services for property managers and tenants. Tenantplus is continually accepting students for internships in computer engineering and creative services.
