occupies a magnificent site overlooking the River Don in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, at the heart of 7,000 acres of land. Forbes family home for six generations, it is now open to paying guests to experience Scottish hospitality, and share the many fine family treasures.
Thanks to careful conservation by the Forbes family, the estate is home to many wild animal species rare or absent elsewhere, covers a variety of terrain: farmland, hill, forest and riverside, and is busy with several enterprises under overall managerial direction of Malcolm Forbes.
Fishing at Castle Forbes is for salmon and trout, and is fly fishing only. The Forbes beats extend along three miles of the River Don on one bank and for two and a half miles on the other.
The fishing beats are on the Forbes Estate (private land, no public access) and are booked individually, so you can be assured of being far from madding crowds.
We usually have a good run of salmon through the season, with good distribution of native Scottish brown trout - all natural populations, no artificial stocking.
