February 27, 2006 (Press Release) --
You never know what will be for sale on eBay. From cheese sandwiches bearing the images of religious icons to souvenir cow excrement allegedly gathered at Area 51 in Nevada, eBay always seems to have something new and different to offer. Recently, the Original Online Garage Sale Show stumbled on a different kind of eBay auction.
eBay Item #:5613137944 is not an ordinary eBay sale item. The description reads, "PLACE ADS ON WHEELCHAIR, HELP HIM BE RID OF SSI!!" The wheelchair belongs to Joe, a well-educated man about town in Green Bay Wisconsin, where he is regularly seen on the street and in shopping malls. He often travels to Milwaukee and Chicago; he frequently attends concerts and sporting events. Cerebral Palsy does not slow Joe down.
Over the years, Joe (who has a degree in Psychology) has come to realize that people tend to stare at wheelchairs and the people in them; it’s human nature. Being a friendly and outgoing person, Joe uses the opportunity created by the stares to educate people about the challenges of living with a disability. Joe really enjoys discussing the subject with children.
Since everyone he encounters seems to look at his wheelchair, Joe figures it would make for a great advertising opportunity for some savy business or individual! He is looking for a sponsor for his wheelchair. Finding a sponsor would mean a great deal to Joe, as it would help him to finally be rid of SSI. And Joe figures that ads on his wheelchair would be an excellent way for a company or individual to get their message out to the community in a very positive way.
The complete interview with Joe is streaming online at http://GarageSaleShow.com. The home page also has a link to Joe’s eBay auction.
The Original Online Garage Sale Show has 2 Live webcasts each week, Sunday morning from 10 a.m. ‘til Noon (MST) and Wednesday evening from 8 ‘til 10 p.m. When not webcasting Live, recorded programs stream 24/7. In addition to helping listeners to buy, sell & trade their treasures, the Original Online Garage Sale Show regularly works with Non-Profit Organizations to help promote their fundraisers, events and volunteer needs.
