A. Intelligent Design (Religion): Christian fundamentalist approach to teach Biblical creationism in schools, a matter of faith, based on untestable religious beliefs. (A) is not the subject of Dr. Benor’s talk.
B. Intelligent Design (Science): Theory that life is so complex, it is highly unlikely it evolved by chance - a theory subject to rough statistical estimates.
C. Participatory Intelligent Design (Science): Each of us is a part of a collective consciousness guiding evolution of the universe. Humans participate in intelligent design – a theory subject to experiment and validation, supported by highly significant published findings.
Dr. Benor’s thesis:
1. Incredible coincidences of basic science make life possible.
2. Darwinian selection/evolution is inadequate to explain evolutionary development of physical characteristics, particularly when these involve complex organs.
Darwinian mechanisms address ‘survival of the fittest, not the arrival of the fittest.’
– Stephen Meyer
3. Extrasensory perception (ESP), psychokinesis and healing (Therapeutic Touch, Healing Touch, Reiki, prayer healing) enable human interactions with other humans and other organisms - supported by impressive research
4. The mind can influence random number generators (RNGs) – impressive research
5. When egg and sperm cells are formed in the process of meiosis, chromosomes and genes are randomly distributed, comprising a biological RNG – fact
6. Collective consciousness exists – extension of (3, 4)
7. Each of us is a pixel in the cosmic screen of the universe. Each of us contributes to the All and can participate in intelligent design
