Broadfax IP supports real time fax communications over IP (internet protocol), referred to as T.38 protocol.

The new Broadfax IP supports Fax over IP in conjunction with IP-based telephony equipment that may already be in place.

IP communications, using the few IP enabled fax cards has been around for many years but the cards where expensive and unreliable. Broadfax IP utilizes router technology thus eliminating the need for fax cards altogether, in essence board less faxing.

The two main advantages for the customer is the huge savings in long distance costs by sending via IP, and the elimination of costly fax boards.
