FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) March 7, 2006 --
Melville, New York – March 7, 2006 -- Every hour of every day someone is newly diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, a chronic disease of the central nervous system for which there is no cure. Over 400,000 people live with the unpredictable symptoms of MS that can come and go at a moments notice or can be permanent.
It is only by putting a face on the disease will we begin to understand what it means to live with MS. This is why the National MS Society is reaching out to the MS community nationwide to build The Face of MS – an online, interactive and collaborative art project representing the face of MS. As more people contribute their stories through video and written testimonials, the face will continue to grow into a kaleidoscopic collaborative work of art. The Face of MS launches March 13. You can tell your story and hear others at www.faceofms.org.
Come face to face with MS during MS Awareness Week
MS Awareness Week takes place March 13- 17, 2006. The Long Island Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society is taking part in a nationwide campaign to raise awareness for multiple sclerosis that will encourage people to come face to face with a disease that impacts each person differently and to inspire people across the country to join in the fight to end MS.
“Putting a face on MS is the best way to raise awareness for a disease that is as unique as the person who lives with it,” said Pamela J. Mastrota, CEO and President of the Long Island Chapter “MS Awareness Week is an opportunity for all people allied in the fight against MS to raise awareness, share their story, and encourage the entire MS community to build the face of MS. It is also a platform for the general public to better understand the complexities of a disease that strikes a new person virtually every hour.”
