March 9, 2006 (Press Release) --
LISTA continues to promote technology as a tool for learning and communication by donating much needed computers to the Dream Project. The Dominican Republic Education And Mentoring (DREAM) Project is a US 501c3 nonprofit organization that provides equitable access to quality education for children born into poverty in rural areas and small communities of the Dominican Republic by combining volunteerism, international awareness, and community involvement into a sustainable support system.
Jonathan Wunderlich, Director of Dominican Dream Operations states, “We are extremely exited about LISTA Project Dream initiative. LISTA’s long-term partnership and commitment to Project Dream has helped to raise awareness and cultivate partnerships with elected officials and organizations in New York City and nationally”.
In conjunction with Dream Project’s vision, LISTA believe that access to both education and technology are vital to success in today's world. It is through these virtual exchanges, that students receive valuable knowledge and cross-cultural understanding which will benefit them both social and economically. We believe that education has the power to change lives, energize the economy, fortify communities and strengthen our understanding of each other.
“The words that Divide are not as deep as the blood that Unite us. Latinos as a whole must do more to find innovative ways to Bridge the Digital Divide." states Jose Marquez Leon.
LISTA’s goal is to empower Latino’s to achieve unimagined possibilities and transformations through technology, leadership and economic prosperity.
