March 17, 2006 (Press Release) --
For the latest week, the rise in Capacity Utilization and Industrial Production and the drop in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) added an unweighted value of 8 to the Index. The drop in Housing Starts and Retail Sales subtracted an unweighted value of 6 from the Index.
During the week, the Money – Zero Maturity and the Housing Market Index remained on-trend and did not affect the BullandBearWise Index.
For the week, the cumulative unweighted change was plus 2, resulting in the Index rising to 46.27.
“Raising the debt limit is turning into a charade,” said Peter Duray-Bito, owner of BullandBearWise.com. “How did we manage to live from the 1940s to the 1970s with modest debt? Now it seems we can't go on without it.”
The indicators used in the BullandBearWise Index are weighted based on the table available at http://www.bullandbearwise.com/calculation.asp. All bullish indicators are then summed and divided into the sum of all the indicators. When an indicator changes from bearish to bullish, the Index increases 1.5 times the Weighting. For example, if Consumer Credit (Weighting = 1) turns from bearish to bullish, the BullandBearWise Index would increase by 1.5.
