The Pest Control Association of Malaysia (PCAM) and the Singapore Pest Management Association (SPMA) have once again come together to jointly organise a pest management convention for the Southeast Asian market.
Titled "Pest Summit 2006", the event is scheduled to take place from Thursday 10 to Saturday 12 August 2006 at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel in Singapore. The theme of this convention is "Targeting Zero Pest Infestation".
For the first time, the Indonesian Pest Control Association and the Thailand Pest Management Association are joining in as co-organisers for the event, promising an international flavour in the delegate make-up.
According to organising chairman, John H H Ho, "Our inaugural co-operation between PCAM and SPMA was the convention held in Langkawi in 2003. Because of that success we are now making this event bigger and are having more speakers with a more exciting programme lined up for our participants."
Among the speakers lined up for the three-day conference-cum-exhibition are leading experts in the fields of cockroach management, termite management, mosquito and dengue control, stored product pests, HACCP and food safety. The confirmed speakers thus far come from Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, UK and USA.
The event will also feature topics on facilities management and business trends, which should interest executives responsible for raising the standards in the maintenance of properties.
Innovators, manufacturers and distributors of pest management products and services from the Australia, Germany, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, UK and USA are expected to show off their wares at the event.
"We are excited about this year's convention," said Ang Tan Loong, President of PCAM. "With the co-operation of the four associations, we are confident of organising a world-class event that will attract strong participation from the industry."
Aside from the usual educational thrust of such conventions, the organising committee has made it a point to put fun into the event, like the "Great Cockroach Derby" with great cash prizes to be won.
"Our aim is for the participants to go away with useful information as well as having enjoyed themselves in the process," said G. Surajan, President of SPMA.
