March 21, 2006 (Press Release) --
Cambridge, MA……Jean Fain is expanding her weight-loss CD series with audio instruction on mindful eating, a sane, effective way to get a handle on eating problems, and the series launches with “Eating Awareness Training.” Lecture goers who’ve heard Fain’s mindful eating presentations are excited to realize that they can gain control of their eating and lose weight without dieting. That presentation, including a powerful guided meditation, is now available to CD listeners.
The new CD offers a strong foundation in a proven program called Mindfulness-Based Eating Awareness Training (MB-EAT), which embodies principles of mindfulness meditation and research in food intake regulation. Originally developed to curb binge eating, early research suggests that MB-EAT can be an invaluable addition to any weight-loss plan. Fain’s “Eating Awareness Training” CD features a mini-lecture on MB-EAT and the very same guided meditation participants practice in her popular mindful eating groups.
In addition to doing individual and group therapy in her private practice, Fain teaches mindfulness and hypnosis at Cambridge Health Alliance, a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School, and writes for O, The Oprah Magazine, among other women’s magazines. She specializes in what she likes to call “eating disturbances,” the range of food-related issues from compulsive overeating to yo-yo dieting that have serious physical and emotional consequences, but fall short of diagnosable eating disorders.
