March 22, 2006 (Press Release) --
BOSTON, MA, March 15, 2006 – An impressive panoramic mural of Fenway Park and Kenmore Square has just been completed by artist Anne Cook of Brockton MA. The dramatic and colorful painting is 36 feet long by 6 feet high. Anne is well known for creating impressive murals with this her largest to date. The nine (9) panel panoramic mural was commissioned by the Boston affiliate of ESPN for their Schraffts Center offices in Charlestown.
Another of Anne Cook’s recent murals celebrated the efforts of union workers on the Big Dig project and is mounted in Laborer’s Union Local 22 office in Malden, MA
The greatest challenge for Ms. Cook was finding a way to capture images of Fenway Park facing east. The Hotel Buckminster allowed Ms Cook the opportunity to capture a 270 degree photographic view of Kenmore Square and Fenway Park from the rooftop. The Red Sox management forwarded reference photos of the interior of the park, as it was being renovated at the time. Ms. Cook noted “I worked out the details and structure in my head and abbreviated some of the extra details on the roof areas. It is a very complex and organic building.”
Ms. Cook also included a painted inset of an historic black and white photo of the entrance of Fenway Park on the 9th panel.
