March 23, 2006 (Press Release) --
He’s been “George Clooney, People Magazine’s Sexiest Man of the Year”, and “George Clooney, Academy Award® winner”…and now women (and men) of the world can show their support for “George Clooney, President of the United States of America”!
“Men like him are one-in-a-billion. They just don’t make them like George Clooney often. He’s the perfect combination of class, charm, looks and intelligence. He’s the kind of man a woman could only hope to meet and marry,” says Tamara Nowakowsky, journalist, entrepreneur, and one half of the dynamic design duo behind the Clooney collection sold at MistersandMisses.com.
The idea all started in a rant and rave entry on her personal blog about one Mister George Clooney.
“After watching Jon Stewart host the Academy Awards last night, it seems that some people are calling for George Clooney to be considered as a host for next year's awards. Well in the spirit of calling a spade a spade, I am going to one-up these folks, and say that there's a position that George Clooney would be much better suited for. Yup. President of the United States of America. Just look at him. Go ahead, feast your eyes. The man oozes old-school charm and class, and has an intelligence and a sense of humour that captivates.
I watched a Barbara Walters special…recently…and George deftly sidestepped any and all personal questions with the grace of a light-footed boxer and the deftness of the most seasoned politician.
One final note... might I share a secret? HE ONCE WINKED AT ME!! Oh dear readers, it was an important stage in the development of my life. You might even say, it was the day I became a woman.”
Tamara’s close friend and fellow entrepreneur Angela Gwinner, a Canadian currently living in Germany, commented on the blog, “I reckon this should be a t-shirt that you and I create and share with the world?” And thus, an idea (whose time has come) was born.
“George is definitely a hot topic of conversation,” Angela says. “For his acting ability, those looks and glances that he masters, so naturally…he shows intelligence, subtle but smashing humour and yes, the looks. Did I mention the looks?
Sitting at the salon the other day, enjoying the royal treatment and simply flipping through a magazine, I found myself smiling while eavesdropping on the conversation between a stylist and her client… it was all about George! And then upon reading Tamara’s blog, it just all fell together. Women love George. And men respect George. I wonder how many want to be George?
So even though we’re Canadian and can’t vote in a U.S. election, we thought at least this way we can raise our voices, get Americans (and George) thinking about it, and in our own way, cast our ballot.”
1% of sales from all items will be donated to ONE, the Campaign to Make Poverty History (one.org).
